Choreographed and performed by Mamela Nyamza and Neliswa Xaba
The Last Attitude interrogates the politics of this ancient art form, in particular the male posture and the relationship between the male principal dancer and the ballerina. Originally the male dancer served as a porter, lifting the ballerina to show how light she is and also showing his masculinity. The progression of the male in Ballet has been phenomenal from a time where they didn’t dance at all, to today where they take centre stage.
